Problem
The AccessMyLan agent installs but shows an error "Proxy authentication failed (For further information see "More details" below)".
Explanation
The AccessMyLan Agent makes an outbound-only SSL connection (on port 443) to the AccessMyLan service. This conection is similar to a connection made to a secure banking website and in the majority of cases there are no firewall changes required to allow this.
The error message above indicates that the customer is using an “authenticating proxy” which needs to identify all services attempting to connect to the internet. The AccessMyLan agent runs as a Windows service under “localhost” so the authenticating proxy will not allow it to access the internet.
Solution
You will need to supply a username and password to the AccessMyLan Agent service to allow it to authenticate the proxy. We recommend that a new user is created for this purpose.
Click on the "View Services" button on the VPN Agent Manager.
Locate VPN Agent service, right-click on it and choose Properties.
Select the Log On tab.
Select "This Account" and enter the username and password.
Click on OK and then right-click on the VPN Agent service and choose Restart.
If the Agent does not successfully connect after following the steps above click here for further options.
