Question Title My VPN client disconnects after 8 hours, how can I stop this happening?

My VPN client disconnects after 8 hours of continuous connection, can I stop this happening?

It is part of the AccessMyLan security features that after 8 hours of continuous connection a client is disconnected and asked to re-authenticate.

If you need to maintain a continous connection without interruption you can create a new "dial-up networking entry" for AccessMyLan which can be configured to automatically re-connect. Follow the steps below to set this up:
  1. Open the Control Panel, double-click on Network Connections.
    Click on File, “New Connection…”
  2. Select “Connect to the network at my workplace” and click Next
  3. Select “Virtual Private Network connection” and click Next
  4. Type a Name e.g.   “AML”
  5. Select “Do not dial the initial connection” and click Next
  6. Enter “ipsec-l2tp.accessmylan.com” and click Next
  7. Select “Anyone’s use” and click Next.
  8. Tick the “Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop” and click Finish.
  9. The client software will open. Click on Properties button, select Options tab, tick “Redial if line is dropped” option.
The above procedure will create a new "AML" icon on your desktop. You must use this icon to login from now on.
