How to configure an authenticating proxy (ISA 2006) to allow the AccessMyLan Agent to install.
The AccessMyLan Agent makes an outbound-only SSL connection to the AccessMyLan cloud. Because the service runs as “localhost” an authenticating proxy may not allow it to connect. We need to add a rule to the proxy to allow unauthenticated access from the Agent host machine to the AccessMyLan cloud.
Add a Firewall rule to allow the agent machine access to the AccessMyLan IP addresses:
Login to the ISA server machine and open the ISA server management console.
-
Select the Network node, select the Internal network and choose the Edit Selected Network task.
-
Choose the Web Proxy tab and click on Authentication…
-
If the “Require all users to authenticate” box is ticked then un-tick it. If this is already un-ticked then click Cancel on the Properties box and continue with the steps below.
-
Right-click the Firewall Policy node, point to New, and then click Access Rule.
In the Welcome page of the New Access Rule Wizard, type a descriptive name for the rule, e.g. “AccessMyLan_Agent”. Then click Next.
-
On the Rule Action page, click Allow. Then click Next.
-
On the Protocols page, select Selected protocols, and then click Add. Click to expand Web, and then select the protocols HTTP and HTTPS. Select each protocol, and then click Add. After you have selected the protocols, click Close. Then click Next.
-
On the Access Rule Sources page, click Add. Click on New and select Computer. Type a name for the computer, e.g. “AccessMyLan Agent host” and enter the computer’s IP address. Click OK. Select the computer you’ve just created, click on Add. Click Close. Then click Next.
-
On the Access Rule Destinations page, click Add. Click on New and select Address Range. Type a descriptive name for the range, e.g. “AccessMyLan cloud”. Then enter the relevant address range for your location:
EMEA:
Start Address 213.200.94.193, End Address 213.200.94.254,
USA:
Start Address 4.79.80.193, End Address 4.79.80.254
Click OK. Select the address range you’ve just created and click Add. Click Close and then click Next.
