How to configure a Windows Mobile device for AccessMyLan Mobile APN access
A mobile device containing a SIM enabled with AccessMyLan now has a full network connection to the office network. Also, if required, all other internet access could be disabled for that SIM, so an administrator can be sure their users do not have un-controlled access to the Internet from their mobile device.
Create a user on the AccessMyLan administration site for the mobile device:
-
Login to the administration site at www.accessmylan.com.
-
Go to Users
»
Add User » specify a username and password.
-
Select "Mobile APN" as the access method.
-
Specify your country and operator and then select the Manufacturer and Model.
-
Specify the type of credentials to be used.
-
Take note of the configuration details (Access Point Name, username and password).
Configure the Windows Mobile device:
-
Insert your AccessMyLan-enabled SIM into the device.
-
Go to Start -> Settings -> Connections (tab) -> Connections.
-
Under My Work Network choose "Add a new modem connection"
-
Enter "AccessMyLAn" as the connection name.
-
Choose GPRS or 3G as the modem type.
-
Enter the Access point name as given in the configuration details on the AccessMyLan website.
-
Enter the username and password as give in the configuration details.
Configure the "Work Exceptions":
To enabled applications to use the APN setup above, we need to define which network addresses are in the 'work network', i.e. which applications should use this APN.
-
Go to Start -> Settings -> Connections (tab) -> Connections.
-
Select the Advanced tab.
-
Select Exceptions and then "Add new URL..."
-
Enter the address on your work network for which traffic needs to use the APN. You can enter a range by using *, e.g. 192.168.*.*
