ActiveSync Error: "HTTP Error 403 from Exchange Server"
Symptom
An
ActiveSync mobile device is not successfully synchronizing and this
error is shown on the Device details page on the administration website
(fig.1.). The error shown on the mobile device will vary depending on
the device being used.

Explanation
This error means that the device has made a connection attempt to the
Exchange server but the server has rejected that attempt with the
message "HTTP error 403". Either:
1) The Exchange server does not have ActiveSync enabled as service
or
2) This particular user is not enabled for ActiveSync
Resolution
For Exchange 2003:
1) Follow this Microsoft document to verify that
that ActiveSync is enabled in the Exchange System Manager.
or
2) Follow this Microsoft document to verify that ActiveSync is enabled for this particular user.
