ActiveSync error: Failed to connect to the Exchange Server. (Access Control Rules denied access)
Symptom
An
ActiveSync mobile device is not successfully synchronizing and this
error is shown on the Device details page on the administration website
(fig.1.). The error shown on the mobile device will vary depending on
the device being used.

Explanation
This error means that the device has been unable to make a connection attempt to the Exchange server. The connection attempt was prevented by the AccessMyLan Access Control Rules. These rules are configured using the administration website and are used to control what resources users can access.
Resolution
Login to the administration website (www.accessmylan.com) and check the Network Access Rules and User Access Rules to determine which rule is preventing access to the Exchange server. Click here to view a document on modifying the Access Control Rules.
