What advanced security features can I enable on my Web Portal?
VPN Plugin
When a users logs in to the Web portal, the Web portal will attempt to install and run the VPN Plugin. The VPN Plugin clears the cache upon session termination and determines the status of the system for use in endpoint access control. The VPN Plugin is supported in Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox browsers. If the remote browser does not support or allow the installation of the plugin, users may still access
applications subject to the endpoint policy defined.
Endpoint Control
When Endpoint control is enabled on the VPN, access to individual web portal applications can be controlled based on the characteristics of the remote system accessing the portal. The characteristics of the remote system are determined by the VPN browser plugin which can check if the remote system passes the per-user endpoint control tests. To enable endpoint control for Portal Applications, the following steps are required;
-
Enable Endpoint control via the network configuration page
-
For each web application, define whether the application is available to users in quarantine (i.e. who fail the endpoint test)
-
For each remote user, configure the Web Portal access options in their Network Access Policy to enforce endpoint control and select the tests to perform on the endpoint
If the endpoint test is not passed, the user will still be able to login to the portal and placed in 'quarantine'. Applications that are not available to quarantined users will be marked as inaccessible.
User Access Rules
Access to a published application or share can be controlled at an individual user level. From the Web Application or Web Folder edit page, select 'Configure user access rules' from the drop-down menu. Once 'Restricted' access is selected, you can define an include or an exclude list of users. The portal will not display the application icon and label if the application is not accessible to a user due to access rules.
URL Access Rules
URL Access rules allow specific URLs to be blocked for an application. The pattern to match in a URL may be specifed as a glob (e.g. *.doc , /hr/* , *reports199?) or as a regular expression.
