How do I view the desktop of a machine in the office? |
How to connect to a Remote Desktop in the office using AccessMyLan:
AccessMyLan provides a full TCP/IP connection into your office network. Once the AccessMyLan client is connected on any out-of-office PC or laptop, all applications (e.g. Outlook, shared drives etc.) can be used in the same manner as if the user were in the office.
If you wish to use Remote Desktop to view the desktop of a machine in the office network, AccessMyLan facilitates this using the built-in Windows Remote Desktop application.
The machine in the office which is to be accessed needs to be first “turned on” to listen for Remote Desktop connections:
On the “target” machine in the office which you wish to access go to:
Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Remote tab.
Tick the “Allow users to connect remotely to this computer” box.

Back on remote machine (e.g. laptop at home), launch the AccessMyLan client and ensure it is connected:

Click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Communications -> Remote Desktop Connection. This will launch the Windows Remote Desktop application.
Type in the name or IP Address of the target machine and click connect.
