Client Connectivity Error: Windows IPSec Service is not running (Incompatibility with other VPN clients)
Error 768, f0002003

Problem
If the error message “The Windows IPSec Service is not running” occurs when the user is trying to connect it is most likely that another VPN client is installed on the machine and causing a conflict. This issue can also present as “Error 768: the connection attempt fails because of failure to encrypt data”.
Explanation
Some VPN Client’s disabled the Windows IPSec Service when they are installed. This service needs to be running for the AccessMyLan client to function correctly.
Solution
-
Re-enable the IPSec Service.

Right-click on My Computer and Manage

Click on the ‘Services and Applications’ icon and then double-click on Services
-
Scroll down this list to the a service named IPSEC Services.

Right-click on this and choose Start.
You may also need to uninstall the other VPN client to prevent this issue re-occuring.
VPN clients which have been known to cause this issue are:
Older versions of the Cisco VPN Client.
Symantec VPN Client.
