Client error: "VPN Client Certificate has expired" |
VPN Client certificate has expired.

Fig. 2

Error code 786
Symptom
Either of the above errors occurs when the user clicks on “Connect” on the client software. The resolution below is also valid if the error contains the text “The connection requires a certificate and no valid certificate was found”.
Explanation
During the installation of the AccessMyLan client a certificate is installed on the user’s PC. This certificate, along with a username and password is used to validate each connection to the AccessMyLan service. The client certificate is valid for one year from the date of installation.
If the user attempts to connect to AccessMyLan during the 60 days before the certificate is due to expire they will receive an error message stating that the cert is due to expire and prompting them to renew it (Fig. 1)
If the user does not renew the certificate during these 60 days they will then receive an error message stating that the certificate has expired and the only option available is to click on “OK” to attempt to renew the certificate (Fig. 2). The certificate must be renewed before the user can successfully connect.
Resolution
Clicking on “OK” on either of the error messages above should automatically renew the client certificate and the user will be able to connect.
They can also attempt to renew the certificate by clicking on “Settings” and then clicking the “Renew Certificate” button (Fig. 3).
[If an error occurs see the "Failed to renew certificate" document]
