Agent error: Firewall or authenticating proxy preventing Agent from accessing the internet

Agent Connection Error: Authenticating Proxy

Problem
During the install of the AccessMyLan agent the customer receives an error message stating that a firewall or proxy is preventing the AccessMyLan agent from accessing the internet. The customer has attempted to supply proxy credentials to the Agent service but this has not resolved the issue (if you have not already attempted to supply proxy credentials to the Agent service this should be attempted before following the steps below. Explanation
The AccessMyLan Agent makes an outbound-only SSL connection (on port 443) to the AccessMyLan service. This conection is similar to a connection made to a secure banking website and in the majority of cases there are no firewall changes required to allow this. In this case the customer is using an “authenticating proxy” which needs to identify all services attempting to connect to the internet.

The error message above indicates that the customer's proxy supports only "Basic" or "digest" authentication. In this context we cannot supply credentials to the VPN Agent to allow it to authenticate to the proxy.

Solution
The customer will need to either configure direct internet access from agent host machine (i.e. bypass the proxy) OR
if the agent host machine must access the internet via the proxy the customer will need to add a proxy rule to allow the agent host machine unauthenticated access to the 3 addresses below:
